St Mirren’s Head Coach, Matt Giroux, is hoping that a win over Fury will kickstart a successful campaign for his team:
“All of us at St Mirren are excited about the challenge of the season ahead. We have lost some experience from the squad but there is a real energy about our training sessions and we are working hard to blend new faces and youth with returning talent. We are keen to follow on from the success of the Senior Men’s teams of the past and feel that we have a squad that can compete and challenge for silverware this year. Personally, I am thrilled to be back at the club and working with excellent players and all the dedicated people behind the scenes at Basketball Paisley who are so committed to the success of our teams at all levels both on and off the court.
Opening away at Falkirk will be a formidable test as they are not only a big rival but are perennially one of the top teams in the country. We will have a great deal of respect for what they are capable of individually and collectively on the court Friday night. However, I believe our training and preseason matches have helped to prepare us for the opener and we will head through to Grangemouth looking to make a positive start to the new campaign.”
