The SBC season is now over. Our coaches, players, officials and volunteers will all try to get some rest in the coming months for next year.
We are continuing to give quick overview's of how this season's competitions have gone and which cabinet's the trophies will stay in for the next year. Our penultimate recap, the Senior Women's Division.
SBC League and Scottish Cup Champions: City of Edinburgh
City of Edinburgh had an amazing season in the League this year. They were undefeated through Christmas and quickly secured their title with games to spare. The blend of experience and youth they held had built a great foundation for multiple trophies. They breezed their way to winning the Scottish Cup later in the season returning back to the top of Scottish Women's basketball once again.
SBC Playoff Champions: Sony Centre Fury
Sony Centre Fury started the season strongly, and it looked as though they would be the biggest opponent to City of Edinburgh as the season progressed. Some inconsistency after Christmas meant they finished the season as the 5th seed. This paired with Fury's Cup defeat in the preliminary rounds meant Fury's only hope of their first Senior Women's silverware was in the Playoffs. Fury weren't deterred managing to get to the Playoff Final where they defeated Tayside in a hard-fought game.
Honourable mention: Tayside Musketeers
Tayside are a young team who have been improving year on year and this season was no different. A shaky start put them in a poor position before Christmas, leading to them almost missing the top half at the mid-season split. However, from then on, Tayside began to show signs of what they can play like as they ended up in 2nd position in the League while also making a Cup Final and the Playoff Final, losing out in each match. They can view this season as another building block, unfortunate to not get their hands on a trophy.
