The Glasgow Rocks have signed a 1 year deal with the option of a further year extension with current GB and Glasgow Rocks Captain, Kieron Achara and have made a double statement of intent by signing long time fan favourites Gareth Murray and Jonny Bunyan for the 2017/18 BBL season.
Kieron Achara finished the 2016/17 season with a number of accolades to his name including making the BBL all British Team of the Year, BBL all Defensive Team of the Year, Molten BBL Team of Year as well as taking home The Pete Jacques Award for best British player in the BBL and the Glasgow Rocks Team MVP award for the 3rd straight season. Achara averaged 15.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and a league leading 1.7 blocks per game and he will now be looking to consolidate his place as one of the standout players in the BBL as well as continuing his ambition to bring Silverware to Glasgow.
Achara had the following to say about his decision to stay on for at least another season with the Glasgow Rocks outfit.
“I’m excited to be extending my contract with the Rocks. It is an honour playing professionally in my home country in front of family and friends at the same time as being able to help inspire the next generation of Scottish ballers. I re-signed because I believe the Rocks are moving in the right direction and I want to be part of something great.”
