2019 Officials Conference details
The schedule for the 2019 Officials Pre-season Conference has been announced.
Taking place at Perth College on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September, from 9am to 5pm and 9am to 3pm respectively.
The event provides an educational experience for referees of all abilities and will involve delivery from Key note speakers to all referees via joint sessions, as well as ability specific material delivered by basketballscotland tutors. These are tailored to meet the needs of the referees operating at all levels of the SBC and local leagues.
The range of topics to be covered across the two days includes: Refresh on the current FIBA Playing rules, Individual Officiating techniques, Clips and examples from Scottish Games (Youth and Seniors), Improve your Mechanics to Improve your refereeing, Scenario Sessions, On court practical sessions, Fitness Measure† and Rules Test~
Graham Shaw, basketballscotland’s Competitions & Officiating Manager, believes the conference is a valuable few days for Scotland’s officials:

The education and support of officials in Scotland over the last few years has improved and we have been fortunate enough to attract world-class speakers from all over Europe.”

~100 Questions (Yes/No) will be sent out prior to the weekend and the test will be made up of 25 of these.
†This is currently only Mandatory for Referees on Upgrade Programmes and/or those wish to be considered for Senior SBC Basketball games. We would encourage all who want to attempt it to do so. The test in run in the form of a regular Bleep test
