3×3 Street Jams!

With the excitement still fresh from the announcement of 3×3 basketball’s participation in the 2026 Commonwealth Games, we are thrilled to introduce our first step as part of a wider initiative aimed at getting more people on the court and enjoying the game: Our 3×3 Street Jams!

These Jams are informal, community-led events that focus on fun and inclusivity, offering players across Scotland more opportunities to experience 3×3 basketball in a relaxed yet energising environment.

The Jams, which should be delivered between November 2024 and April 2025, are designed to be flexible. They can focus on one age group and run for just a few hours, making them easy to organise. Whether indoors or outdoors, these events aim to create a fun, lively atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. However, given Scotland’s unpredictable weather, we recommend organisers have an indoor alternative for outdoor Jams.

To help bring the Jams to life, we would encourage organisers to add extra flair with features like music and an MC, contributing to an exciting and engaging vibe.

basketballscotland will support organisers by providing training and funding to ensure each Jam delivers a fantastic experience for participants.

These events are also an excellent opportunity for referees to gain court experience. We suggest having at least one qualified referee per game to ensure smooth play and promote referee development within the sport.

If you’re excited about hosting a 3×3 Jam, we’d love to hear from you! Whether you’re part of a club, a local player, or a community group, fill in this Expression of Interest form to start planning your event today.
