Soho Wealth SBC Senior Men

Friday 1st November

Portobello High School

Intro

City of Edinburgh Kings welcome defending Champions Dunfermline Reign to Portobello on Friday night as game week seven of the Soho Wealth SBC gets underway.

It’s set to be a close encounter between the two sides, with Kings the only side to defeat Reign on their way to the 2018/29 SBC League title. Kings also picked up silverware during the last campaign, coming out on top in a dramatic SBC Playoff final back in March.

The teams

Kings currently sit third in the table, with four wins from their opening five games. A narrow loss to St Mirren, 77-72, is the only mark on their record which includes victories over Blaze, Lions, Glasgow University and Phoenix.

Dunfermline find themselves down in fourth, however the Fife side are one of only two teams to remain unbeaten with a perfect record of 4-0. Lions, Blaze, Tornadoes and Glasgow University have all fallen to the Champions.

From the Coaches

Paddy Campbell, Kings’ Head Coach, is expecting a competitive fixture:

Friday looks to be a massive game, with two form teams at the top end of the table coming together. It should be a competitive match-up, with both teams playing a similar style, but our guys are really looking forward to it coming off a big win last week against Blaze. Garreth and I are delighted at how our team is progressing and improving each week and these big games can’t come quick enough.”

Dunfermline’s Kieran Lynch knows acknowledged the talent in the Kings squad and is preparing for a tough night:

“Playing at Porty has always been tough for us over the years and we expect nothing different this Friday. They are a well organised team with talented players who have played at a very high level. If we execute our own game plan for 40 minutes, I feel we will compete and could come away with the win. A busy Portobello is fun to play in and I am excited to see if we can take another win against one of the top teams in the country.”
