School Games National Finals 2024 Squad Announcement

basketballscotland is proud to announce its participation in the upcoming School Games National Finals with five dedicated 3×3 teams, consisting of three wheelchair basketball teams and two running basketball teams, marking a significant milestone for Scottish youth basketball.

Traditionally, the School Games have only featured the wheelchair game, but we are delighted to have two running teams participating this year. Alongside our men’s and women’s wheelchair teams, we have the addition of the Celtic Wheelchair team, which will see two boys from Northern Ireland join forces with Scotland. This collaboration provides additional opportunity for more players and serves as a testament to the power of sport in bringing people together and breaking down barriers. Scotland will also field a girls’ wheelchair basketball team for the first time, made possible by the inclusion of a player from England.

The School Games will take place from August 30th to September 1st at Loughborough University and are underpinned by 7 Values: Determination, Honesty, Self Belief, Teamwork, Passion, Respect and Eco Friendly. Our 5 teams will be part of over 1,000 participants from 12 sports. Providing valuable stewardship, guidance and coaching to our young athletes will be Amy Kirkhouse, Bantu Burroughs, Brian Borland and Josh Manson.

This year’s inclusion of running basketball marks a pivotal moment for the School Games as it offers new opportunities for our young athletes to shine.
