It’s just over two weeks until Ken Johnston’s basketball gathering, which is set to take place at BT Murrayfield on August 16th.
Over 100 people have signed up for the event so far, with ex-players, coaches and officials reaching out with stories, photos and more. Scots now living as far away as Canada have been sharing their memories of Scottish basketball growing up.
Over the last few weeks basketballscotland have been sharing a number of teaser images on social media as part of the build up to the event. These images have included the 1952 Scottish Cup final, USA’s Olympic team playing in Edinburgh and team photos from historic Scottish clubs such as Pleasance Basketball Club.
With the event looking to be a great evening, organiser Ken Johnston shared his delight at the response:
“I’m delighted to see so many people sign up to join me in sharing our memories of basketball in Scotland over the last half a century or so. I recognise a number of the people who have purchased their tickets and just reading the names has brought back so many great memories. We’ve had a lot of interest from as far away as Canada which is great and, with more than two weeks to go, there’s still time for others to get their tickets and join us.”
Tickets for the event are just £2 and can be ordered online here.
