basketballscotland squad announced for Belgian Wheelchair tournament
basketballscotland’s Wheelchair National Academy squad has today been confirmed ahead of the Leuven Bears international youth tournament, which is set to take place in Blankenberge, Belgium, from 18th-20th October.
The tournament – which is for players under 17 – will be hosted by Leuven Bears, whose youth wheelchair squad won the Belgian cup back in May. Teams from Belgium, Germany, France and Scotland will compete in the tournament.
Players from four Scottish clubs have been invited to take part, with players from Lothian Phoenix, Glasgow Rollin Rocks, Dundee Dragons and Grampian flyers all making the squad.
basketballscotland’s Tina Gordon is hoping to see the players gain valuable experience both on and off the court:
“Building on the success of the squad from this Summer’s National Junior Championships, we are delighted to be competing in the ‘Leuven Bears International Youth Tournament’ in Belgium. The tournament will not only greatly enhance players on court basketball skills by playing against teams from Belgium, Germany and France, but also players personal development and teamwork.”
