basketballscotland official Rad Baker has organised a unique charity game which takes place in Edinburgh next weekend.
Held at Oriam, the game will see referees line up against coaches, with all proceeds going to YMCA Edinburgh. The game tips off at 12pm on June 30th, with Adult tickets priced at £3 and entry free for Children.
Talking about why he organised the game, Rad explained that it was a case of doing his bit to help:
“I just wanted to change something, do something positive for the local community. It’s a little something for those who need small gestures from others. Ultimately, I decided to organise the event because I could, and every taking part have given a lot to basketball in Scotland for many, many years.”
The charity chosen by Rad was YMCA Edinburgh, who he singled out for doing lots of positive work around sport, particularly basketball:
“We chose YMCA because we believe that it is an organisation that really cares for children in Edinburgh. We chose this charity because it is well known and settled locally. YMCA actively promotes the spirit of sport and physical activity among children and cares about their welfare, creating an environment for stable development.”
The game is the first of its kind as officials and coaches come together, and Rad hopes that people can come along and show their support for both the players and the charity.
