David Davies announces resignation as Chair of basketballscotland
The governing body of the sport of basketball in Scotland, basketballscotland, has thanked David Davies for his leadership as he announces his intention to resign from the post of Chair. David intends to move back to England for family reasons and will leave the post at the end of March 2020.
David took over the post as Acting Chair in advance of being voted into the position of Chair at the AGM of basketball member clubs in August 2017.
David commented: “It is with a heavy heart that I confirm my intention to step down as a Director and Chair of basketballscotland. I want to place on record the pride I have taken from my time at the helm of the organisation and I thank everyone who has worked so hard to steer the sport through the last couple of years. I leave the sport in good hands and am confident that the game we love will continue to thrive in Scotland.”.
Speaking of the announcement, Kevin Pringle, Chief Executive of basketballscotland, said: “David has been a fantastic Chair and has steered the Board and the governing body through some challenging issues. He leaves the sport in a much better place than when he joined it. The Board and basketballscotland staff would like to thank him for his dedication, commitment, wise counsel and good humour, and we wish him the very best in everything that he does in the future.”
Stephen Ferguson, the current Vice-Chair and Communications Director on the Board of basketballscotland, will take up the role of Acting Chair.
