Since the last AGM, the Board of basketballscotland has undergone a number of changes. In August 2018 Euan Campbell tendered his resignation as Finance Director. He was followed by Amy Morgan in October. In addition, the term of Sandy Sutherland concluded at the AGM of 2018. We thank all three for their contribution to the growth of basketball in Scotland.
Due to a challenging financial year the importance of increasing our commercial income has been highlighted. As such, Craig Chambers joined the Board as Commercial Director. He was joined by Doug Folan as Performance Director and Stephen McCall to add a club perspective to the Board. Finally, Marc Shenken now provides financial expertise to the Board.
Over the past year the staff of basketballscotland has also seen significant alterations and a restructuring. Our female strategy has been approved by the Board and a Participations Manager has been appointed to lead its implementation. The importance of coaching has been identified and a Coach Developer has been appointed. We strengthened the disability team with a Wheelchair and ASN Development Officer whilst our Communications Officer has also been replaced. Lastly, our Regional Team has undergone some changes in personnel. Consequently, we thank Derek O’Riordan, Will Clarke, Declan McGinley, Cammy McLay, Zane Bricite, Jay Runga, Anita Reca and Kieron Achara for their efforts whilst part of the basketballscotland team, and wish them all the best for the future.
With such changes during a difficult financial period the majority of the Board’s attention has been financial security. They have been aided by the appointment of Mavor & Co as part-time financial assistance to oversee and process the finances of basketballscotland. This has led to a number of significant improvements to the finance processing.
The Board have also begun developing our strategy during this exciting time for all involved with basketball in Scotland.
