Her World Her Rules
On this International Women’s Day basketballscotland are pleased to announce that we are taking part in this year’s Her World, Her Rules (HWHR) campaign in partnership with FIBA and British Basketball. This year will see 20 clubs offered the opportunity to deliver HWHR sessions for their U12 and U14 girls sections. This project will culminate in regional events hosted by clubs which basketballscotland will support through funding and staff time to bring together girls’ teams for a day of competitive games, skills challenges and an opportunity to engage with female role models.
basketballscotland’s Social Impact Lead, Amy Kirkhouse, said “This campaign is about building the profile of girls’ basketball globally and we are excited to be a part of it alongside Basketball England and Basketball Wales. Our hope is that we engage a large number of U12 and U14 girls and provide them with an opportunity to be part of something bigger where they see female role models, the potential of what basketball could offer them and as a result build their confidence, resilience and ambition on and off the court.”
HWHR is FIBA’s flagship campaign to sustainably grow girls basketball globally. The objectives are:
- Increase participation of girls in basketball
- Increase the popularity of girls’ basketball locally and nationally
- Attract media attention
- Recognise and promote women role models
- Celebrate women’s basketball
- Ensure that basketball is the number one sport among young girls
