Following the recent news that basketballscotland will be launching a new Regional Academy programme throughout Scotland, we are now accepting nominations from Coaches for this year’s programme.
Coaches wishing to nominate players for their Regional Academy can now do so via the specific links below. Applications will close at 5pm on 2nd February 2018.
This year’s Regional Academy programme is for players aged 11-14 before 31st December 2017.
Thinking of nominating a player? Coaches should consider the following:
- Nominations will guarantee a spot at the Regional Readiness Camp but will not guarantee their place within the Regional Academy. There are 48 spaces reserved in each Academy. 24 of which are for boys and 24 for girls. Each gender will then be broken down into two teams of 12; the ‘Championship Squad’ and the ‘Development Squad’. This tiering will be based on both the players stage of development, and their behaviours relative to our Talent Principles.
- Only nominate players who consistently score highly on the ‘Talent Behaviours’ section on the nomination form.
- All nominations will be collated centrally, players will be provided a specific time slot to attend the Regional Readiness Camp where they will play a number of games and scrimmages. Players will be assessed on the day on their behaviours (outlined in the nominations form), and their capacity to learn, and their potential to progress.
- Any nominated player who does not progress into the academy will receive feedback and either transferred back into their clubs with work-ons or invited to the Summer Skills Programme.
- There is no cost to attend the Regional Readiness Camp, should players be invited to progress to their Regional Academy the cost of the programme will be £100. This will contribute to the costs of venue hire, kit, and games programme.
