basketballscotland are hosting Scotland’s first national 3×3 event at Oriam tomorrow as part of FIBA Europe’s Youth Development Fund. Working in partnership with Sony Centre Falkirk, the day will see around young 60 players from across Scotland come together for an exciting competition.
Teams will be competing across four courts, with First Place UK supplying music to go with 3×3’s urban style. Each team will complete three group games before progressing into gold, silver and bronze groups. Both the boys and girls will then have a semi-final and final to determine the winners on the day.
Former Scotland and GB international Kieron Achara will also be in attendance during the event, offering support and encouragement to the players. Achara eill also be on hand to present trophies and medals to the winners and runners up.
Prizes from Sony Centre will also be presented to the best team mate, one male and one female, as the day looks to promote teamwork as well as basketball’s latest game.
basketballscotland’s Kieran Lynch is looking forward to hosting Scotland’s first 3×3 event:
“It is our first nationwide 3×3 youth competition and it is encouraging to see so many kids signed up to play. With the 3×3 World Cup currently taking place in Amsterdam, there is a great opportunity for the players to try out what they have watched and learnt on YouTube. I expect some fast-paced basketball and some fantastic team play from all the players. It’s brilliant to have the support of FIBA’s Youth Development Fund for the event and also a huge thank you to our partner Sony Centre Falkirk who have provided the trophies, medals and other prizes for the youngsters.”
Updates throughout the day will be available through both basketballscotland and The Church of Hoops.
