Who are you? What is your involvement with basketball?

My name is Kat Kirsop and I play for lady rocks senior women’s team.

Has basketball made an impact on your life? If so, how?

Basketball has had a big impact on my life. I have made many friends through playing basketball and have learned lots of transferable skills. Whilst juggling playing basketball and attending school/university I have learned the importance of effective time management.

Have you been able to make an impact on basketball? If so how?

I always try to positively impact whatever team I’m playing for, by bringing lots of energy and hype both on and off the court. Bringing hype and energy helps keep everyone motivated.

What would you say to someone who is LGBTQ+ who is wanting to get into basketball?

I would encourage anyone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community to get involved in basketball as it’s been a huge confidence boost for me. I have always felt supported and encourage to be who I am by all coaches and teammates I’ve worked with.
