Intro
Lady Rocks host Perth Phoenix in the Semi-Final of the U18 Women’s SBC Scottish Cup on Wednesday night, with a place in the Final against Sony Centre Fury awaiting the winner.
Rocks and Phoenix booked their place in the Semi-Final with wins over Polonia Phoenix and Glasgow Fever respectively. The two teams also have history in the Scottish Cup, meeting in last season’s U16 Women’s Final.
The teams
Lady Rocks currently sit second in the SBC U18 Women’s division, however they are the only team who remain unbeaten at this stage of the season. Their record of 8-0 includes a 39-60 win over Sony Centre Fury, who currently top the table based on games played.
Perth Phoenix sit one place behind Rocks in third, with a record of 7-2. Both of Perth’s losses have came at the hands of Rocks, who picked up a 62-56 win on the opening day of the season and a 67-66 win in Perth back in November.
From the Coaches
Perth’s Russel Kesson believes Rocks enter the game as slight favourites, although his team will be up for the challenge:
“With Rocks winning the league game last week by 1pt they will go into this game as favourites. However, our girls will be up for the game and will need to be at our very best to have a chance of taking the win. We are looking forward to the game as they are always close contests between the two clubs.”
Rocks’ Head Coach, Nadele Strain, expects another action-packed encounter:
“It’s always an exciting game against Perth, we are looking forward to another exciting high paced game with all to play for.”
