After much anticipation, the SBC season returned to courts across Scotland this past weekend with plenty of games taking place up and down the country.
SBC Men
Boroughmuir Blaze played host to league newcomers Pleasance in the Senior Men’s curtain raiser on Thursday night. With plenty of experience on hand, Blaze made light work of picking up their first win of the season taking the game 93-53.
Friday night saw two games take place, with Dunfermline Reign creating history on opening night with a 66-76 win on the road at City of Edinburgh in Game of the Week. A full report from Game of the Week can be found HERE.
Elsewhere on Friday night, Sony Centre Falkirk Fury marked their first game in their new home with a convincing 83-34 win over Glasgow University.
Edinburgh University and Stirling Knights had to wait until Sunday before getting their season underway. The University put on a great display in the first half but were unable to keep up with the pace of a young Knights squad who went on to win the game 68-80.
SBC Women
The SBC Senior Women’s league gets underway this coming weekend and we will be live from Glasgow on Friday night for Game of the Week between Lady Rocks and Glasgow Fever.
U18 Men
Sony Centre Fury were first up on Saturday as they travelled to face Glasgow City in their opening league fixture, the final score 16-138.
Perth Phoenix and Stirling Knights were caught up in a close battle with Knights eventually holding off to win 64-74 away from home.
St Mirren West College Scotland got their season off to a good start with a 78-42 win over Glasgow Rens.
City of Edinburgh played hosts to Dunfermline Reign on Saturday afternoon and in a competitive battle, Kings took the win 69-58.
West Lothian Wolves won on the road against Boroughmuir Blaze, taking their first win of the season 46-93.
U18 Women
Boroughmuir Blaze and West Lothian Wolves were the only two teams in action in the U18 Women’s SBC with Boroughmuir Blaze winning 99-40.
U16 Men
Stirling Knights travelled to Aberdeen to take on Grampian Flyers and made light work on the long road trip, winning 95-62.
Tayside Musketeers beat Sony Centre Fury to go 1-0, the final score 85-46.
St Mirren West College Scotland kept their unbeaten run at U16 level alive with a 91-34 win over Glasgow Rens.
City of Edinburgh made it two wins from two across both U16 and U18 with a 79-68 win over Dunfermline Reign.
West Lothian Wolves also won both games at U16 and U18 with their 16s beating Boroughmuir Blaze 60-84.
U16 Women
There were two fixtures that took place in the U16 Women’s league this weekend with City of Edinburgh losing 32-83 against Inverness City at Portobello High School.
Perth Phoenix saw off Stirling Knights 89-38 in their season-opener.
