After a long summer of waiting, the SBC season returned in style with Dunfermline Reign claiming the first #SBCGotW with a 86-64 against visitors Boroughmuir Blaze.
The first quarter saw both teams moving the ball well, and putting up numbers on the board. Blaze and Reign looked energetic hitting the floor, battling hard for rebounds but it was Eoghann Dover who took control of the scoring early on, his 13 first-quarter points in the first quarter helped his side take a 22-25 lead.

After a scorching start to the game, Blaze struggled to find the basket in the second quarter, scoring just 2-points. Jake Sirrell was the star of the second period, helping Reign to a 21-point lead at the half-time break. Sirrell’s 17 first-half points leading the way for the hosts who took a 48-27 lead at the break.

Knowing they required a big second half, Blaze came out with a new sense of urgency in the 3rd quarter strong, contesting a lot of Reign’s big shooters but with both sides trading baskets, it was Reign who remained in control, heading into the final period with a 69-44 lead.

The narrative continued in the final 10 minutes of play in Dunfermline as Reign took care of business on an offensive and defensive side of events. With a flurry of rushed turnovers from Blaze which the Dunfermline side took advantage of, the final score was not something of a surprise as the game closed out in favour of Dunfermline Reign, 86-64.
