basketballscotland would like to congratulate our five officials that were selected to officiate at the WBBL and BBL Trophy Finals in Glasgow on Sunday 20th March.
The trio of officials in the WBBL final were all representing basketballscotland, as ex-FIBA referee Chris Dodds worked alongside Nick Nassi and Bartek Rasinski in the game which saw London Lions capture the Trophy.
Later in the afternoon, FIBA referees Iain Macdonald and Mariann Dodds-Miklosik took to the court to officiate the BBL Trophy Final which saw Cheshire Phoenix win the accolade for the 5th time.
All five referees are no stranger to the bright lights of the BBL and WBBL as they are all tenured officials within the league, having refereed several games throughout this season as well as previous Finals.
Multiple table officials and statisticians also represented Scotland across both finals, including Ewan Carlow, Ailidh Hood, Stuart McKay and Louise Moyes.
basketballscotland’s Chair, Stephen Ferguson, is delighted to see the talent, knowledge and skill of our officials is being showcased on such a grand stage:
“The fact that our referees are regularly chosen to take part in prestigious basketball showcase events is a testimony to their talent, knowledge and skill. As we work to develop the referees of the future, and to create a more positive culture to support referees, it can be helpful to those considering a future in refereeing to see what can be achieved and to see that others in the Scottish game have carved out such successful careers. We hope that their successes are inspiring for all our young budding referees across our community.”
basketballscotland would like to thank all our officials for their continuous hard work and dedication to the game. The roles you play within our sport are invaluable. You are the reason games happen.
