The Scottish Schools Cup is back for 2023!
This week 24 teams from schools across the country will travel to Dundee’s Regional Performance Centre to compete in the 2023 Scottish Schools Cup Final 4’s.
The competition has been fierce this year, with schools competing against others within their region to earn their place at the Final 4’s event. Following a similar format to last year, the competition featured six leagues: S1 Girls, S1 Boys, U15 Girls, U15 Boys, Open Girls and Open Boys. The winners from these leagues in each region – North, East, Central and West – will now meet at the Final 4’s event to be crowned the 2023 champion! The event will give players the opportunity to experience playing in an exciting atmosphere with supporters, while sharing the court with some of Scotland’s most experienced officials.
Glen Honeyman, who leads on the Scottish Schools Cup at basketballscotland, commented:
“Given it’s the first full year after the pandemic, it’s great to see how many schools have been competing in the Schools Cup. With over 100 schools across the country participating in this competition, it just shows that the enthusiasm for school basketball is as strong as ever. The work that each of our school leads have done to deliver an accessible and successful regional competition throughout the year has been fantastic, which now leads us to the excitement of our Final 4’s Event in Dundee.”
