Six Scots invited to Great Britain camps ahead of this summer’s FIBA European Youth Championships.
Four groups of players have been invited to Great Britain camps ahead of this summer’s FIBA European Youth Championships.
The Championships will see more than 250 teams play across 16 tournaments, three age categories and three divisions – with GB competing in Division B of the U16 men’s, and U16 and U18 women’s competitions, and in the top division of the U18 men’s tournament.
The British Basketball Federation and home country basketball associations appointed coaches and staff last month.
Before the final 12-player rosters are confirmed, four groups of 16 players will attend orientation camps at the University of Essex (male) and Myerscough College (female) on 2 and 3 July.
Coaches will assess the invited players before selecting their Euro squads.
Barry Lang, basketballscotland’s Head of Basketball, commented: “We’re all extremely excited to see GB Basketball teams back in FIBA European competitions again, following our absence due to the pandemic. It’s also great to see Scottish representation across the age groups and in the coaching teams. We wish all four teams well for the upcoming summer tournaments and would like to thank all the community clubs and volunteers for their hard work in supporting the players to achieve their goals.”
