It’s always inspiring to watch the biggest names in Scottish sport beat records, lift trophies and receive medals on a global platform. We’re all too aware of the dedication by these athletes, whose relentless pursuit of glory has brought pride to our nation.
However, there are of course many inspirational sportsmen and women who don’t always get the same level of media coverage or recognition that they deserve. These athletes, coaches, match officials and administrators work tirelessly around the clock, often unpaid, to help others succeed and enjoy sport in Scotland.
To honour this dedication, Watermans’ most recent campaign celebrates those who are making a difference to sport, at all levels. basketballscotland are happy to announce that coach Tina Gordon been featured amongst their founding Unsung Sporting Heroes, alongside athletes Kieron Achara and Bantu Burroughs.
Tina has been recognised for her instrumental contributions to wheelchair basketball over the last 15 years, whilst Kieron and Bantu have both been acknowledged for their hard work, dedication and commitment to the sport of basketball.
If there’s any other basketballscotland athletes, coaches or volunteers you feel should be featured on the wall of Unsung Sporting Heroes, you can submit your nomination with why you feel they deserve to be recognised. Along with Bantu, Kieron and Tina, they’ll then be entered into a competition to win one year’s sponsorship from Watermans.
