Three Scots have been appointed in the GB staff ahead of European Youth Championships.

Donnie MacDonald, Craig Nicol and Darryl Wood have been appointed as coaches for the GB youth teams ahead of this summer’s FIBA European Youth Championships.

MacDonald will serve as the U16 Women’s Head Coach, with Wood joining the team as an Assistant Coach. The team will compete against Austria, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, in Group D of Division B in in Podgorica, Montenegro, from August 18^th – 27^th.

Nicol has been named as the U18 Men’s Head Coach, where his team will be competing in the European Championships’ top division in Turkey from July 30^th – August 7^th. They will take on France, Russia and Israel in Group A of the competition.

All three coaches are bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience with them as they step into the coaching roles.

The Championships will see over 250 teams play across 16 tournaments, three age categories and three divisions, with GB competing in Division B of the U16 men’s, and U16 and U18 women’s competitions, and in the top division of the U18 men’s tournament. The GB U16 and U18 teams are supported financially and logistically by basketballscotland, Basketball Wales and Basketball England.
