basketballscotland are excited to announce the U14 and U18 Scotland Squads selection for British Wheelchair Basketball’s National Junior Championships. The Championships are sent to take place at the University of Worcester over the weekend of 7th and 8th August.
Speaking on the Championships, Conor Smart, Head Coach for the U14s, commented:
“I am very much looking forward to the National Junior Championships in 2022. For many of our young players this will be their first time representing Scotland as well as their first taste of a nation-wide competition, and I have sensed their eagerness to push themselves both individually and as a team in every training session. My main objective is for our players to have fun and showcase the skills they have learned at their local clubs. As this is the first time this competition has been held since the disruption caused by Covid-19 I am also looking forward to our players having the opportunity to meet other young people from across the UK who share their dedication and passion for wheelchair basketball.”
“We are very excited about what this squad can achieve. They have been developing well as a squad for a long time now despite their young age, and we are very proud of how they played and trained in Barcelona. The National Junior Championships is always a good test for the players and an excellent opportunity to bring the beset players from across the National Academy together. It is also a good opportunity to play 5v5 competitively whilst developing those life skills and encouraging independence of the young people”.
