Course Outline
Description: This programme hopes to inspire a group of coaches to challenge their thinking and improve their confidence in breaking down and teaching team and individual basketball concepts. basketballscotland will provide bespoke to support to each coach through a mixture of technical and tactical (Mechanics & Rules) and development topics (Communication, Feedback, Setbacks etc). Every session will include a coach/referee developer observing and generating some feedback from the live environment. We will also have a topic in place for both coaches and officials on the day, which will allow for some discussion and reflection.
Pre-requisites: Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Hold the Team Coach qualification or meet the APL criteria.
Before coaching, coaches are required to attend a Child Welfare and Protection in Sport workshop or equivalent and we would recommend attending an appointed persons first aid course
Delivery: This is a programme which will be delivered over the basketball season. The on court sessions will take place during basketballscotland’s Regional Academy sessions. Coaches attending will receive:
- E-Learning Modules
- 10 sessions at the Regional Academy
- Coach Developer support
- Technical and Tacticalsupport
- Portfolio of work
- Modules for continued learning
