Scotland’s LGBTI Sports Festival, Festival Fortnight, takes place between the 17th and 30th of June this year.

Co-ordinated by LEAP Sports Scotland, Festival Fortnight is two weeks of sports, cultural, academic, recreational, and social event aimed at increasing sports visibility and participation of LGBTI and tackling discrimination.

LEAP Sports Scotland – also known as Leadership, Equality and Active Participation in Sports for LGBTIpeople in Scotland – works for greater inclusion for LGBTI people in sport and against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in a sports context.

As part of Festival Fortnight, basketballscotland are working with Rainbow Glasgaroos to host a wheelchair basketball taster session on June 20th.

Angharad Englefield Nelson, Chair of Rainbow Glasgaroos, is looking forward to the event raising the profile of the club:

“Festival Fortnight is such a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our club and attract new members, as well as being able to provide something fun for our community. With the help of basketballscotland we are running a wheelchair basketball taster session, along with our normal session. This is an amazing chance to work intersectionally and become more inclusive of all the different people within the LGBTQI+ community.”
