Ayrshire Tornadoes used their Club Champion Basketball festival to continue developing basketball in the North Ayrshire region.

With the programme now in its third year of running, Coach Jordan Thomson has delivered basketball sessions to primary and secondary pupils across North Ayrshire throughout the year with a culmination of the club’s efforts on display in the fantastic tournament that was held in Garnock Community Campus.

7 of the primary schools in the Garnock Valley attended. Each school had 4 weeks training in the build to the tournament. This tournament was aimed at P5 children to get them involved in basketball. Each school had two teams split into two leagues. On the day we had over 100 kids playing in competitive games followed by school shoot out.

Some words from Coach Thomson. ‘Days like this are why I coach! It’s great giving kids in Ayrshire the chance to play basketball, also giving them a pathway to join the club. Great to see so many kids and teachers enjoying tournament, hopefully see a few of these kids becoming Tornadoes stars in the future! Big thanks to everyone on the day who made it a success. Thanks to North Ayrshire Council, KA Leisure and Active Schools for there support.’
