The 2019 Clinimed SBC Wheelchair Playoffs tip off in Stirling tomorrow with four games of action, plus an addition game: the Blackwood Women’s All-Star game.

Both semi-finals tip off at 10:30am, with the games running side by side at The Peak. Glasgow Rocks Masters, who topped the Clinimed SBC League, host Dundee Dragons on Court One, whilst second seeded Glasgow Rocks 3 host Lothian Phoenix on Court Two.

The lunchtime game features players from Scottish Women Warriors and Scottish Wildcats as they come together for the Blackwood All-Star game.

The first of the afternoon games, all of which are to be held on Court One, will be the two losing semi-finalists compete for third place, before the two winners go head to head in a bid to be crowned champions.

Ahead of the Playoffs basketballscotland caught up with the teams to get their thoughts on the season and Playoffs. Conor Smart, Chairman of Lothian Phoenix, recognises the commitment of the players all year as they reach the end of the 2018/19 season:

“Players are the heart of any sport, and the players at Lothian Phoenix Wheelchair Basketball Club are amongst the most dedicated and committed group of people in the league. Time and again they step up against tough opposition, always in a spirit of friendship, and give every last ounce of their guts and determination. From the start of the season they have become more skilled and experienced and we are bringing all of it to the finals and looking forward to some great matches against some great teams.”

Dundee Dragons Coach, Gemma Lumsdaine, also commented on the work ethic of her squad as she revealed her excitement for the Playoffs:

“We are really looking forward to competing at this year’s CliniMed SBC Playoffs, it is a highlight in our calendar. The squad have been working hard and have made huge improvements from the beginning of the season so are keen to put their skills to the test!”
