With four players from Scotland travelling down to the GB training camp in Nottingham this week, basketballscotland caught up with two of them – Rose Harvey and Jannike Marshall – to chat about their season so far and hopes for the summer.

You’ve both been playing with Edinburgh University throughout the season, how has the year gone for you?

Rose: “It was pretty good, the beginning of the season was really good. I really enjoyed playing in the senior women’s league this year. It really pushed me to my limits and I really enjoyed playing. It was a good season.”

Jannike: “The team was quite young as well so it was nice to play with people who are similar ages as well, so you’re not the only person who is young. Apart from that it was a bit of a disappointing end, we had a few players out with injuries, but as a whole it’s been a good season.”

You touched there on playing with senior women for the first time, you’ve both also made the step up to Caledonia Pride this season. How has that gone?

Rose: “It was a really big step up but I have enjoyed every minute of it. The training is really intense but I feel like I’ve really improved and I’ve learnt a lot of things that I didn’t know before so it’s been a really good experience.”

Jannike: “It’s amazing to just train with the girls in the Pride team, let alone play as well. I’m really honoured to be able to do that.”

This week we’ve had the good news that you’ve both been selected for the GB training camp. What are your hopes for that?

Rose: I’m just hoping to go and give it my all, put all the effort in and do what I can to make the team.”

Jannike: “yeah, that’s the same for me. I’ll do what I can, see what I can do at that moment in time [due to carrying an injury] and just hope for the best really.”
