Jr. NBA League 3 Round Up

The third Jr. NBA League of 19/20 heads into the knockout stages as twelve teams from six Divisions meet this Friday for the Conference Finals. Well done to all teams who participated in an exciting two months of basketball action. Not everybody could qualify for the Conference Finals but it was a positive basketball experience for all with plenty of excellent skills on display and lots of fun had by all.

Eastern Conference

Atlantic Division

From the Atlantic Division, run by Highland Bears, Philadelphia 76ers Balloch qualified top with a perfect 8-0 record. Teamwork was key for the 76ers with all players contributing throughout their Division games in both offence and defence. Close behind them are Toronto Raptors Cradlehall who also qualify to the Conference Finals. They finish with a 6-2 record with losses coming only to the 76ers in close games. Special mention must go to New York Knicks Culloden, who had never played together before the Jr. NBA and saw great improvement throughout the competition as they gelled together.

Southeast Division

The Southeast Division, hosted by Dundee Madsons, finished in dramatic fashion with Charlotte Hornets Ancrum taking the first qualifier spot after winning all eight group games. Tight games between the Hornets and Orlando Magic St Fergus saw Magic take the second qualifier spot. All teams displayed great hard work and effort throughout the competition.

Central Division

Milwaukee Bucks Dunnotar topped the Central Division, hosted by Panthers Basketball, in a tightly contested race for the top spot. The Bucks dropped a game to Cleveland Cavaliers Bervie, who also qualify to the Conference Finals, but got the win in the reverse fixture. Both the Bucks and Cavs advance with some fantastic team play and a lot of energy in their games.

Eastern Conference Finals

The Eastern Conference Finals will take place this Friday, hosted by Panthers at Portlethen Academy with the first games tipping off at 15:50. The six qualified teams will play round robin games in two groups. Group A sees Toronto Raptors Cradlehall, Charlotte Hornets Ancrum and Milwaukee Bucks Dunnotar face each other. Whilst Philadelphia 76ers Balloch, Orlando Magic St Fergus and Cleveland Cavaliers Bervie will battle it out in Group B. The teams who top each group will qualify to the Final Fours.

Western Conference

Pacific Division

The Pacific Division, run by BasketballPaisley, saw Phoenix Suns Howwood finish with a perfect record to claim top spot. They are joined in the Conference Finals by Sacramento Kings Heriot, with only one basket separating the teams in their last meeting. In a fiercely contested Division, results show how close the standings are, and all teams should be proud of their improvement throughout the competition.

Southwest Division

Some high scoring games and tight contests saw an exciting Southwest Division, hosted by Ayr Storm, conclude with Dallas Mavericks Dundonald and Houston Rockets Heathfield both qualifying to the Western Conference Finals. There was fantastic effort on display by all teams throughout the Division with all teams scoring well.

Northwest Division

Glasgow Fever ran the Northwest Division that saw Portland Trailblazers Whitecrook qualify top. Minnesota Timberwolves St. Stephen’s join them at Friday’s Western Conference Finals after narrowly beating Oklahoma City Thunder Goldenhill, who finish in third place, on points difference.

Western Conference Finals

The Western Conference Finals will take place this Friday, hosted by BasketballPaisley at the Lagoon Leisure Centre with the first games tipping off at 10:15. The six qualified teams will play round robin games in two groups. Group A sees Phoenix Suns Howwood, Houston Rockets Heathfield and Portland Trailblazers Whitecrook battle it out. In Group B Sacramento Kings Heriot, Dallas Mavericks Dundonald and Minnesota Timberwolves St. Stephen’s will face each other. The teams who top each group will qualify to the Final Fours.
