basketballscotland is delighted to provide a further update on the Regional Academy programme, with player nominations for all 8 Academies open NOW! Details of how to get involved in the programme can be found below, we look forward to working with you over the coming season. 

What is the Regional Academy programme?

Our new Regional Academy programme is aimed at supporting individual player development, with a specific focus on a number of key areas of the game. This includes:

  • Scoring and finishing
  • Physical preparation and recovery
  • 1v1 basketball
  • 3v3 basketball

Who is it for?

We are accepting applications for U13 Boys & Girls (Born 2006 or after) and U14 Boys & Girls (Born 2005 or after)

Where is my nearest Regional Academy?

Having established 8 Regional Academies that will play host to the programme, the programme will operate in the following areas:

  • Ayrshire
  • Central
  • Edinburgh
  • Glasgow East
  • Glasgow West
  • Grampian
  • Highland
  • Tayside and Fife

How much contact time do players get in the Regional Academy?

Each Regional Academy will deliver 40 hours delivered on court with Phase 1 taking place between October and December 2018 and Phase 2 between January and April 2019. There will also be 2 event days for all Regional Academies in December 2018 and April 2019.

All Regional Academies will deliver their own timetable on dates agreed by the Regional Lead, Coaching Staff and Regional Academy Partnership, to find out your point of contact in your region, please click HERE.

How do I get involved?

Players can submit an Expression of Interest Form HERE and submit it to basketballscotland by 5pm on Friday 12th October 2018. Schools and Clubs will then be advised of the list of players and will be requested to endorse each application based on talent behaviours and values, plus physical and technical ability by Friday 19th October. Players will then be advised of their inclusion week beginning Monday 22nd October.

How much does it cost?

The programme costs £150 per player, this includes the 40 hours of Regional Academy training and event days at Oriam. Players will also receive a Regional Academy t-shirt.
