Scotland’s Robyn Love will be heading to the Netherlands this summer after being selected to represent Great Britain at the 2019 European Championships.
The championships, which are set to be held in Rotterdam between June 30th and July 7th , will see the GB squad face France, Spain, Netherlands, Turkey and Germany. The event also presents the opportunity for teams to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
2019 is the third time Robyn has been selected for the European Championships, having previously earned a bronze medal at both the 2015 and 2017 Championships. At the last major tournament – the 2018 World Championship – GB picked up a silver medal and will be hoping to build on that this year.
British Wheelchair Basketball’s Performance Director, Jayne Ellis, outlined the squad’s ambitions for the forthcoming European Championships:
“We are under no illusions – Europe is an incredibly strong zone with some of the titans of women’s wheelchair basketball heading to the 2019 European Championships.
“Undeniably the competition will be fierce, but we are prepared and ready for the fight. Our GB Women’s Squad is a tight unit both on and off the court; this makes them incredibly effective communicators and they draw strength from one another when it matters most.
“Our approach to the Championships will be simple – one game at a time, laying down our best performance every time, whether it is a pool game or medal game.”
