Big Game for Pride as GB Qualify for the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket

WHAT.A.WEEKEND!

It was an exciting weekend for Scottish basketball as Caledonia Pride secured the win at home against Newcastle Eagles after a close game throughout. The team, made up of nine Scots and one French national, held the lead at the half, 46-44. Continuing to fight hard and show their incredible teamwork in the second half, Pride managed to secure the win, 86-81.

The game also saw big milestones for many of the Pride players. Whilst moving past 100 assists and 400 rebounds, Sian Phillips also made history with her incredible performance of 28 points and 23 rebounds, the most points ever score in a 20/20 performance in WBBL history. This is only the 8th time a 20/20 has been achieved in the WBBL. Pollyanna Stories passed 50 assists, Maela Faleu reached 50 assists and Maud Ranger moved pass 50 rebounds.

It was also a successful weekend for Scotland’s Gareth Murray and his GB teammates as their nail-biting buzzer beater win over Germany secured them a place in the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket! After a close game throughout, the team fought hard together to walk away with the crucial win.
