For this week’s SBC Game of the Week we will be in Edinburgh as top of the Women’s Premier Division, City of Edinburgh Kats play host to top of the Women’s Division 1, St. Mirren West College Scotland in their second meeting of the season. In both team’s last matchup, St.Mirren were the victors when they beat Kats 76-69 in Paisley, knocking them out of the Scottish Cup.
We caught up with City of Edinburgh Kats coach, Ben Gunn to hear his thoughts ahead of the fixture;
“Saturday will be an enjoyable day for the team, it’s our last league game of the season and we’ll obviously enjoy being presented the league trophy after the match, our fourth league title in the last five years.
But we always want to ensure we finish the league campaign strongly, especially with the Playoffs still to come. St Mirren have had a great season; they’re undefeated and top of the Division One, beating everyone they’ve faced from the Premier division, they should clearly be in the top division. They also beat us in a close game in the Scottish Cup early in the season, so we will be guarding against any complacency and looking to get the win.”
The visitors, St. Mirren have yet to register a loss in the league so far this season, going 12-0 in Division 1.
St. Mirren will make the trip to play City of Edinburgh at Portobello High School on Saturday the 17th of February at 3:00pm.
