SBC Weekend Recap – Week 3

Senior Men 

League newcomers Pleasance welcomed a new-look Edinburgh University side during the week in which the rookies claimed their first win of the season with a final score of 76-71.

Boroughmuir Blaze welcomed Glasgow Storm to the capital on Friday night for Game of the Week in which Blaze were comfortable victors. Read the full report on the game HERE.

Stirling Knights travelled to Paisley for a match-up with St Mirren West College Scotland on Friday night. In a back-and-forth game, Saints came away 83-77 win.

Sony Centre Fury continued their unbeaten start to the 2017 SBC season with a 84-75 win over Dunfermline Reign.

Pleasance were in home-court action once again at the weekend as they welcomed more students to the capital. This time facing much less resistance, Pleasance beat Glasgow University 85-64.

 

Senior Women 

 

Polonia Phoenix and City of Edinburgh Kats went to battle in an all-Edinburgh encounter. City of Edinburgh moved to 2-0 for the 2017 season with a 58-69 win on the road.

League newcomers West Lothian Wolves made their own history on Saturday with their first ever win in the SBC after bouncing back from a hard defeat last week to beat Glasgow University 28-50 away from home.

Tayside Musketeers looked strong away from home to Sony Centre Fury as the Muskies picked up a 45-66 win in their first game of the 2017-18 SBC season.

St Mirren West College Scotland picked up a season-opening win in Division 1 against Glasgow Fever, the final score 76-53.

Lady Rocks maintained their unbeaten start to their SBC Premier campaign against Edinburgh University. With a tight game throughout, Lady Rocks won 62-69.

 

U18 Men 

West Lothian Wolves improved to 2-1 with a dominant 102-44 display against Glasgow City while an exciting encounter between Boroughmuir Blaze and Glasgow Rens finished 77-76 in favour of Blaze.

Perth Phoenix hosted City of Edinburgh Kings with the visitors edging out a 5-point game 61-66. St Mirren West College Scotland were 86-74 victors over Stirling Knights and Sony Centre Falkirk Fury picked up a big win over Dunfermline Reign at home.

 

U18 Women 

Boroughmuir Blaze remained undefeated in the U18 Women’s league with a 66-56 win over Lady Rocks.

The only other game to take place this weekend saw St Mirren West College Scotland beat newly formed Knights Fury Central in their first game as a team, the final score 86-60.

 

U16 Men 

The shock result of the weekend came from Stirling Knights’ U16 Men who put an end to St Mirren West College Scotland’s long-standing unbeaten run at U16 level with a 75-83 win on the road.

Elsewhere, Tayside Musketeers picked up an away win over West Lothian Wolves with the game finishing 59-84 in favour of Muskies.

City of Edinburgh travelled north to take on Grampian Flyers but showed no signs of fatigue to take home a 62-72 win.

Boroughmuir Blaze took advantage of having home-court to win 86-48 while Dunfermline Reign won on the road against Sony Centre Falkirk Fury, the final score 39-54.

 

U16 Women 

Perth Phoenix were at home to City of Edinburgh in the U16 Women’s SBC and were able to put a convincing display together to remain unbeaten.

Sony Centre Fury welcomed Inverness City Lions to the central belt with the visitors taking a 54-61 win back home with them.

Elsewhere, St Mirren West College Scotland were home-court winners against Stirling Knights, the final score 86-60.
