The Scotland National Squads have been selected for the 2019 Lord’s Taverners National Junior Championships.

Conor smart and Jen Scally have names their squads for this summer’s tournament in England. Conor will be overseeing the Under 14 squad whilst Jen will be leading the Under 18 players.

Conor is happy to see his more experienced players working with the newbies to develop their skills, and believes this will help the team improve:

“The Scotland U14’s squad this year looks strong, with a mix of players who have already seen action in the BWB National Junior Championships and players new to the sport. It has been a privilege to see the more experienced players mentoring their new team mates, whilst still giving their best performance I have seen yet on individual skills. Our aim is to build on the improvements we made in 2018, focusing on tactical thinking and problem solving during gameplay in our training sessions. As always the competition this year will be fierce however I have no doubt that our team will support each other when the going gets tough and give their very best on court.”

Jen Scally is delighted to see the sport continue to grow and hope to use that passion and enthusiasm to the team’s advantage come August:

“The standard of individual athletes continues to rise. We are delighted to announce our National Team this competitive season. The passion for the sport shines through the athletes and team staff. We are looking to harness that momentum to continue building ahead of the British Wheelchair Basketball Lord Tavener’s National Junior Championships.”

The Lord’s Taverners National Junior Championships is a prestigious annual tournament for U15 and U19 teams, contested by nine English regions plus Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The tournament takes place on 3rd and 4h August at the University of Worcester.
