Three Scots have been selected for the initial GB U20 Women’s squad ahead of this summer European Championships.

Sian Phillips, Shawnisay Millar and Alix Henderson have all made the roster, which features 14 players from across the UK. The trio all spent the 2018/19 season with Scotland’s WBBL side Caledonia Pride.

The players travelled to Manchester over the weekend as the team begins preparations at the National Basketball Performance Centre. The team will then head to Greece at the end of the month for two warm up games before their campaign begins in Prishtina on August 3rd.

GB’s Head Coach, Jeff Jones, is looking forward to continuing preparations with the group after a positive start:

“We’re a day and a half in and their attitude and approach is great. They all understand the concepts we’re giving them and it’ll just be about how they implement them. It’s a positive group and i’m looking forward to it!”

GB were drawn into Group B for the tournament and will face Ukraine and neighbours Ireland in the early stages of the tournament. The structure sees four groups of three teams, with the top two from each group proceeded into two groups of four. The top two from each group then advances to the semi-finals whilst the rest play their respective classification games.
