Soho Wealth SBC: Senior Men’s Division round-up
St Mirren, Sony Centre Fury and Dunfermline Reign were all handed a boost in their quest to top the Soho Wealth SBC Senior Men’s Division as Boroughmuir Blaze’s seventh consecutive win handed City of Edinburgh their fourth defeat of the season.
Boroughmuir’s defence was the highlight of Friday night’s SBC Game of the Week as they picked up a 71-53 win over their Edinburgh rivals. Blaze’s Sam Scott recorded a game high 19 points whilst Ryan Armour scored 14 for Kings. The result leaves both teams on four losses, with Boroughmuir ahead of Kings in the table having played an extra game.
Friday night saw two more games in the Division as Sony Centre Fury picked up an 88-68 win over Glasgow University to remain top of the table, one place above St Mirren. The Paisley side also won, overcoming Perth Phoenix 97-55 at Lagoon. The two sides sit equal on points at the top of the table, having both gone 11-2 so far this campaign.
Glasgow University bounced back from their defeat to Fury on Friday night with a 69-46 win over Perth Phoenix on Sunday in the second game of their weekend double-header. The win was just their second of the season and moved them above Phoenix to seventh in the table, although both teams have a record of 2-9.
Edinburgh Lions also earned their second win of 19/20 as they defeated Ayrshire Tornadoes, 71-54. The result leaves the visiting side bottom of the Soho Wealth Men’s Division as the league enters the final months.
Dunfermline Reign remain third in the table, despite being the only team not in action over the weekend. The Fife-based side now have a three point cushion over fourth place Blaze following the weekend’s results.
