Soho Wealth SBC Senior Women’s Round Up

Lady Rocks gained a crucial advantage in the race to be crowned Soho Wealth SBC Senior Women’s Champions at the weekend with an 82-58 win over City of Edinburgh on Friday night.

The win saw Lady Rocks claim the head-to-head advantage over their opponents, with both sides holding a record of 13-1 heading into their final two league games. Rona Lightbody recorded a game-high 28 points for the hosts, including 16 in an action-packed first quarter, whilst Hannah Peacock picked up 21 for the visitors.

St Mirren scored over 100 points on Sunday afternoon, defeating west Lothian Wolves 101-32. Four players reached double digits for the hosts, with new signing Sarah Thomson recording a game-high of 20. The result sees the Paisley-based side cement a top three finish in the Division, whilst West Lothian Wolves will be battling with Glasgow University to secure the final Playoff spot in the Division.

Sony Centre Fury leapfrogged Edinburgh University with a 71-68 win in Grangemouth on Sunday afternoon. With all teams having just one or two games remaining, both sides will be locked into a four-way fight with Perth Phoenix and Glasgow Fever to secure fourth place and a home fixture to start the Playoffs.

Perth Phoenix are the side currently sitting fourth, having picked up their seventh win of the campaign on Saturday. The side travelled west to face Glasgow Fever, earning a 28-point victory, 46-74. It was Perth’s defence that proved the difference between the sides, limiting their hosts to six and eight points in the second and third respectively.
