Pride Hit More Milestones, as Rocks Face a Tough Weekend

Caledonia Pride suffered a tough loss in Wales over the weekend as they faced Cardiff Met Archers for the first time this season. Despite an initial lead for Pride in the first quarter, Cardiff went on an 10-0 run to create a comfortable gap with less than 3 and a half minutes played. However, Pride were not giving up without a fight and pushed together as a team to end the quarter 29-31. Although Pride kept their fighting attitude right up until the final buzzer, it unfortunately wasn’t enough, falling short 85-72. Read the full game report here. The game was not without its positives however, as several players reach statistical milestones. Sian Phillips Passed 500 points and reach 50 blocks. Ella Doherty reached 200 points and 50 assists, while Maud Ranger passed 100 point during her first season with the team 

 

Meanwhile, over in the BBL, Glasgow Rocks faced another double header, this time with both games on the road. First up they travelled to Surrey, attempting to bounce back from last weekend. The Rocks kept it close during the first quarter, keeping Surrey on their toes to end the quarter just one point behind the home team. However, despite the best efforts of the team, an 8-0 run for Surrey at the start of the second quarter, put them out in front. A lead they would hold for the remainder of the game, which ended 81-60. Read the full report here. 

 

There was no time for the team to dwell, as the next day they travelled to London to play the Lions in the first leg of the BBL Trophy semi-final. Despite a strong start to the game, Lions began to pull away after the first five minutes, leaving the Rocks unable to recover.  Despite continuing to fight throughout the quarters, the game ended 90-66. The Rocks will have a chance to come back in the second leg tonight, where they will need to win by 24 to make it through to the final. Read the full report here.
