Basketballscotland are happy to announce the appointment of Mark Stevenson to the role of Assistant Coach to the Scotland U18 wheelchair basketball squad.

With over 12 years of in wheelchair basketball as both a player and a coach, Mark’s arrival will bring a wealth of experience to the squad. Mark was also Head Coach of the Scotland U19 squad for two years and led the Scotland U23 squad in the 2014-15 Celtic Cup.

Disability Talent & Pathways Manager, Tina Gordon, is delighted to have Mark on board:

“We are delighted to welcome Mark into our wheelchair basketball Youth National Squad programme.  Mark’s wealth of experience in both the running & wheelchair game, will certainly support both players and coaching team.”

Speaking to basketballscotland, Mark shared his excitement to join up with the squad as he returns to basketball:

“I am massively looking forward to stepping back into the wheelchair basketball scene as Scotland U18 Assistant Coach.  I’m excited by the potential and depth of the squad, we have a lot of work to do in the lead up to the Junior Championships, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Scotland’s U18 Squad achieved a Silver medal at both the National Junior Championships and UK School Games last year, and the squad is striving to build on this in its preparations for British Wheelchair Basketball’s National Junior Championships in Worcester this August.  The squad continue their quest for success at training camp this weekend.
