Grampian Flyers and Lothian Phoenix wheelchair basketball clubs recently travelled to Penrith for the RGK Development League and RGK Junior Development League.  Both teams performed well in some closely fought games, with the pair facing each other in the final of the senior competition. Grampian Flyers were victorious, with player-coach Grant Wilson awarded MVP.

Wilson, speaking after the final, commented on the effort that the team has made all season to reach this point:

“It has been the most testing season in our teams six year history.  We put in extra work to ensure we were ready for the challenge and banded together in particular in the final against Fellow Scots Lothian Phoenix.  Big thanks to all those who have supported us throughout the season , and to hosts RGK for organising the league.”

Former GB Paralympians Lee Fawcett, Matt Byrne and Sinclair Thomas were in Penrith to present the trophies, and the former was thankful to all the people whose efforts allowed the leagues to run smoothly:

“Congratulations to Grampian Flyers for winning the RGK Development League Trophy.  Thanks also to all the clubs and officials who helped make this exciting league happen”
